On average 2% of all tiled areas are made up of grouted joints (far more on mosaics), this grout is a breeding ground for mould, germs and dirt. Filling the joints with a common cement based absorbent grout is a cause of deterioration due to:

Stains from absorbed liquids

Loss of consistency due to chemical attack

Uneven discolouration

Growth of moulds, fungi and bacteria

Build-up of ingrained dirt

In confined spaces, this kind of deterioration can cause health problems such as breathing difficulties, allergies and dermatitis. In damp environments such as kitchens and bathrooms these issues are more prevalent due to higher humidity which makes them spread more quickly.

Mould-on-groutThere are many products that attempt to address these problems by including anti-bacterial and fungicidal chemicals or by coating the grout joints with brush or spay on sealers. These all improve the resistance of the grout to varying degrees but never eliminate the problem effectively.

The solution is to replace traditional cement base grouts with the latest liquid ceramic grout. This is manufactured by coating individual grains of quartz sand with a vitrified ceramic coating to produce a “liquid ceramic grout” with exceptional characteristics.

  • Easy to prepare by hand or with a mixer
  • Does not release unpleasant odours
  • Easy to spread
  • Fills joints perfectly
  • Can be cleaned immediately with a sponge and cloth
  • Completely non-absorbent
  • Does not change colour
  • Can be cleaned in the same way as ceramic tiles

Just like ceramic tiles, fully resistant to stains, dirt, bacteria, mould and fungus

Ceramic grout is also available in a range of 30 colours for joints between 0 and 20mm and can be applied over existing cement grouts with a light raking of the joints.
